Elkhart Christian Academy stayed with the Concord Minutemen early, but fell too far behind in the bottom of the 3rd in an 18-1 loss to Concord on Monday. Concord scored on a groundout by Griff Swartout and a single by Bryson Schrock in the first inning.
Concord scored nine runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Concord came thanks to singles by Swartout, Schrock, Braedon Messenger, and Dom Starett, an error on a ball put in play by Andrew Kavanaugh and Schrock, and a groundout by Marshall.
Kayden Cain earned the win for Concord. Cain lasted two innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking one. Hunter Dutton and Starett entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Matthew Elmerick took the loss for Elkhart Christian Academy. The pitcher went three innings, allowing ten runs on four hits and striking out two.
Gabe Kahl and Elmerick each collected one hit to lead Elkhart Christian Academy.
